DAVID WALTER "Jones" ZURAW
71, of Canton, formerly of Gagetown, died peacefully Monday, June 27, 2022 following a yearlong battle with cancer, in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. He was born January 30, 1951 in Bay City to Walter and Cecelia (Szymczak) Zuraw.
David spent his formative years in Gagetown. For over fourteen years, he worked as a butcher at Holiday Market in Canton. David was a member of St. Thomas a’Becket Catholic Church, Canton and Knights of Columbus #3078, Lincoln Park. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and loyal Michigan State Spartan fan.
David is survived by his brothers: Patrick (Valerie) Zuraw of TX, James Zuraw of Caro; sisters: Mary (Lester) Fritz of Cass City, Janet Bruessow of Caro; many nieces and nephews; Uncle Edward Zuraw, Aunt Barb Zuraw, many cousins; very special PaPa to Theresa (Josh) Lahnum’s children: Ricardo, Jesse, Pauline, Rose, Shawn David; special friends, John and Debbie Vitale. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Zuraw; brother-in-law, Peter Bruessow; niece, Peggy Smith; special friend, Barbara Perteet.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Deacon David Gillespie of Our Lady Consolata, St. Pancratius Catholic Church of Cass City officiating. Interment in St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery, Gagetown. Memorials may be made to St. Agatha Food Pantry or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
