EDWARD DOUGLAS ZIEGENMEYER
Edward D. Ziegenmeyer, 57, of Silverwood, died unexpectedly Monday, June 26, 2017 in his home. He was born December 14, 1959 in Rochester to Leonard George and Mary Elizabeth (Matthews) Ziegenmeyer.
Ed graduated from Rochester Adams High School and later from Oakland University where he majored in music. A Lieutenant Colonel, he served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Military Police Corps in Guantanamo Bay following 9/11. Ed was deployed numerous times in his military career to Iraq, Cuba and aided in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. He was a member of the Kingston Lion’s Club and proudly served as Quartermaster for Kingston VFW Post #5317. Ed was an active member of the Meeting Place Worship Center of Kingston. He loved motorcycles, especially the 1958 Harley Hummer that he restored and enjoyed relaxing on the farm with his beagles.
Ed is survived by his children: Catrina (Dillon) Hollosy of Bay City, Kaitlin (Gregory) Allen of Lawton, OK, Lucas Ziegenmeyer of Imlay City, Elijah Ziegenmeyer of Prescott; a grandchild expected in September; parents, Leonard and Mary Elizabeth Ziegenmeyer of Imlay City; brothers: George Ziegenmeyer, Karl (Karen) Ziegenmeyer; sisters: Mary (Michael) Ogden, Samantha Ziegenmeyer; several nieces and a nephew; girlfriend, Ella Cancel of Silverwood.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 in Meeting Place Worship Center of Kingston with Rev. Tim Rich officiating. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Military honors conducted by the U.S. Army, Kingston VFW Post #5317, Kingston AMVETS Post #1072, Marlette VFW Post # 4837. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
