Stella Zieba, 88, of Deford, died Monday, October 27, 2014 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw. She was born February 11, 1926 in Detroit to Ignatius and Magdalene (Miskowicz) Lis. She married Jan Zieba December 27, 1978 in St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Detroit.
Stella graduated from Cass City High School. She worked various jobs in the Detroit area including assisting nurses in a nursing home, a cashier at Woolworth Department Store, a key punch operator for Philco, a Timekeeper for Hall Lamp Company until the plant closed. Stella's last job was as a key punch operator for Detroit Copper and Brass Company where she worked until her retirement in 1978. Stella was a former member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, St. Michael Catholic Church and St. Pancratius Catholic Church. Stella enjoyed bowling, flower gardening and collecting recipes.
Stella is survived by her husband, Jan; stepson: Edward Zieba of Detroit; sister, Jenny Semear of Warren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by brothers: Henry Lis, Joe Lis, Ignatius Lis, Frank Lis, Tony Sokol; and sister, Bernice Kanapsky.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Christian Tabares officiating. Interment will be in Mt.
