JAN ZIEBA,
99, of Deford, died following a lengthy illness Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. He was born May 6, 1920 in Poland to Frank and Anna (Jarosz) Zieba. He married Olga Wilcuk in 1947 in Germany. She died in 1970. He later married Stella Lis December 27, 1978 in St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Detroit. She died October 27, 2014.
Jan moved from Poland to Detroit in 1950. He worked for General Motors Cadillac plant as a bumper assembly line worker and retired in 1982. Jan was a former member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Detroit, St. Michael Catholic Church, Wilmot and St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City. He loved gardening and maintaining his lawn. Jan enjoyed working with wood and made fences, a chicken coop and deer pen. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Central Thumb Council #8892.
Jan is survived by his son, Edward Zieba of Allen Park; many nieces and nephews; great nephew, Buras Janusz of Brooklyn, NY. He is preceded in death by his wife and Edward’s mother, Olga; his wife, Stella; son, John Zieba.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Adam Maher officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit. Vigil service 6:30 p.m. Thursday led by Richard Zyrowski followed by the Knights of Columbus praying the rosary.
