Virginia Zawilinski

November 2, 1931 — July 7, 2012

VIRGINIA MAE ZAWILINSKI,
80, of Cass City, died following a short illness, Saturday, July 7, 2012 in Covenant Health Care System Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born at home in Mayville November 2, 1931 the second of ten children born to Lloyd and Edna Mae (Daniel) Newton. She married Martin Richard Zawilinski June 24, 1950 in Cass City. He died July 31, 1980.

Virginia was a homemaker and Mom. In later years she was part owner of the Cass Tavern for several years. She loved to play BINGO, liked to garden and loved jewelry. Virginia enjoyed watching sports, especially when her children or grandchildren played and could get quite enthusiastic from the stands. She also enjoyed watching sports on television. Virginia was a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church.

Virginia is survived by her daughters: Diana (Ronald) Dubs of Pigeon, Suzanne (Larry) Kidney of Cass City, Victoria (Colin) Almas of Knoxville TN, Deborah Zawilinski of Cass City; sons: Martin (Sean) Zawilinski of Cass City, Karl (Jenny) Zawilinski of Cass City, Joseph Zawilinski of Caro, Phillip (Cheryl) Zawilinski of Cass City, David (Tammie) Zawilinski of Caro; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, John (Elaine) Newton of Kingston; sisters: Lena (Tom) Fortney of Warren,Leona Marie Lengua of Anaheim, CA, Patty Reed of Paris, CA; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by grandson, Scott A. Fisher; great grandson, Connor Wright; infant twin sisters: Doris and Donna; brothers: Leonard Newton, Raymond Newton, Herb Newton; brother-in-law, Calvin Williams.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Bala and Sr. Maria Dina Puddu MC officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers for Mrs. Zawilinski: Ron Dubs, Rick Dubs, Nathan Fisher, Jacob Zawilinski, Shawn Zawilinski, Christopher Zawilinski and Brandon Almas. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
