PHILLIP LEE "BUCK" ZAWILINSKI,
51, of Cass City, died following a long illness Thursday, January 17, 2013 in his home with his loving family by his side. He was born November 13, 1961 in Cass City to Martin Richard and Virginia Mae (Newton) Zawilinski. He married Cheryl Celeste Wilson August 13, 1988 in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marlette.
Phil worked as a laborer and then foreman for C.A. Hull of Walled Lake in bridge construction for 26 years. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local #1191. Phil loved building things with wood, especially wishing wells. He liked to cook and enjoyed camping and canoeing with his family and friends. Phil enjoyed deer hunting, salmon and walleye fishing. He was a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church. Phil was a hard worker, respected friend and fellow employee. He was often given special tasks at work that he completed quickly and efficiently. He enjoyed the simple things in life, spending time with his family and friends was very important to him. Phil enjoyed sharing stories and making his friends and family smile.
Phil is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children: Christopher Martin Zawilinski of Lansing, Megan Ruth Zawilinski of Cass City; sisters: Diana (Ronald) Dubs of Pigeon, Suzanne (Larry) Kidney of Cass City, Victoria (Colin) Almas of Knoxville, TN, Deborah (fianceʹ, David Martin) Zawilinski of Cass City, Martin (Sean) Zawilinski of Cass City, Karl (Jenny) Zawilinski of Cass City, Joseph Zawilinski of Caro, David (Tammie) Zawilinski of Caro; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Ruth Wilson of Marlette, brother-in-law, Jerry (Elaine) Wilson of Brooklyn; sisters-in-law, Karen (Joe) Watson of Byron Center, Jodi Kerbyson of Lapeer. He is preceded in death by an infant child; parents, Martin and Virginia Zawilinski; father-in-law, Rex Wilson; brother-in-law, Richard Wilson.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Bala and Sr. Maria Dina Puddu MC officiating. Interment is in St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery, Marlette. Pallbearers for Mr. Zawilinski: Martin Zawilinski, Karl Zawilinski, Joseph Zawilinski, David Zawilinski, Ronald Dubs and Colin Almas.
