JOHN CASMER ZALUT
John C. Zalut, 80, of Kingston, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 in Covenant Health Care System, Cooper Campus, Saginaw. He was born February 24, 1929 in Wayne County to Albert Albin and Stella (Grzyniewicz) Zalut.
John graduated from Kingston High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He worked as a dairy farmer for many years. John was the owner and operator of Kingston Lumber Yard for over 15 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and United Sportsmans Alliance. John was a talented woodworker making many things including lawn chairs. He enjoyed hunting, (especially deer camp), fishing, traveling, cooking and gathering sap for maple syrup. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, including horse racing and car racing and he liked to play pinochle. One of John’s loves and gifts was tending his beautiful gardens. He grew large vegetable and flower gardens. But most important to John was spending time with family and friends.
John is survived by his dear friend, Marietta “Mary” DeMarrow of Kingston; sisters: Joanna Grzemkowski of Caro and Delores “Dolly” DeJack of Indiana; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Stanley Grzemkowski and several siblings.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2009 in St. Michael Catholic Church with Sr. Riccardina Silvestri officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wilmot.
