George A. Wright, 83, of Cass City, died Friday, December 12, 2003 in Saginaw. He was born May 5, 1920 in Paris, France to William and Helen (Delsaert) Wright. He married Nellie Mae Glatz June 14, 1941 in Fraser. She died October 3, 1999.
George was a member of Redemption Lutheran Church in Detroit. He worked for the city of Detroit Fire Department for 35 years, rising through the ranks until he retired as Battalion Chief. He was the ultimate “Jack of all trades”: Electrician, plumber, builder and carpenter, but his real love was gardening. Upon retirement he attended MSU classes and obtained a Master of Gardener certificate, useful to his remaining days of leisure with Nellie on his Cass City farm.
George is survived by his children: David Wright of Cass City, James (Tamara) Wright of White Lake, and Richard Wright of Caro; daughter-in-law, Karen E. Wright of Cass City; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Francis) Wright of Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife and son, Lawrence.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2003 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorial donations may be made to the Rawson Memorial Library.
