Carl E. Wright, 92, of Cass City, died Monday, November 18, 2002 in Hills & Dales General Hospital, Cass City after a short illness. He was born May 6, 1910 in Cass City to Ervin D. and Bessie (Marshall) Wright. He married Irene A. Robinson June 25, 1935 in Ubly. She died June 11, 1975. He married Phyllis Lester October 4, 1980 in Cass City. She died July 22, 1998.
Carl enjoyed music. He played banjo, guitar, violin and harmonica. At one time he played with The BeachCombers, a local dance band. Carl was a member of Cass City United Methodist Church and attended Deford United Methodist Church for 19 years with Phyllis.
Carl is survived by his children: Shirley (Jay) Wisenbach of Caro, Glenn (Janice) Wright of Imlay City, Vera (Bob) Balwinski of Lorton, VA; Irl Wright of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren: Linda (Dave) Reed of Deford, Cindy Karr of Cass City, Cheryl (Jeff) Chambers of Durham, NC, Terry Wright, Steve Wright, Tammy Montgomery and Robert Wright; great grandchildren: Carissa Chambers, Jeffrey Chambers, Jeremy Reed, Tim Karr, Sandy (Eddie) Shrontz, Dawn (Dean) Searls; great great grandchildren: Ashlyn, Nathan, William, Steven and Justine; sisters: Edna Chaney of Fresno, CA; Ruth Bell of Port Huron; brother, Louie Wright of Smiths Creek; stepchildren: Duane (Marilyn) Lester of Deford, Dolores Lester of Iuka, MS, Gail Joos of Watrousville. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ervin J. Karr; grand son, Donald Karr; great great grandson, Bradley; brother, Gaylord E. Wright and sister, Wiolet Williamson.
Funeral services held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2002 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. George Ward of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or Cass City United Methodist Church Building Fund.
