JAMES EDWARD WOOTERS, SR.
65, of Decker died unexpectedly Sunday, February 2, 2020 in Covenant Medical Center Cooper Campus, Saginaw. He was born June 7, 1954 in Pontiac to Arthur Wooters and Rosemary Samons. Jim was dearly loved by the man who raised him, Jerry Samons. He married Cathy Lynn Schultz July 5, 1995 in Kingston. Jim and Cathy were looking forward to their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.
Jim was raised in Belleville before moving to Cass City as a teenager. He graduated from Cass City High School with the Class of 1972 and lived in Marlette, Cass City and the Decker area most of his life. He was very proud to work as an independent, owner operator, truck driver for Land Star Ranger for over twenty-one years. However, Jim’s biggest and proudest accomplishment was his family. This was evident by the sparkle in his eyes and the smile on his face when he was in their company. He was ready and willing to help others at a moment’s notice. Jim couldn’t sit still and was always working on a project, such as cutting wood or doing yard work. He was fond of playing BINGO and camping in Evergreen Park. Jim loved deer hunting and watching Jimmy Johnson race NASCAR on television.
James is survived by his wife, Cathy; children: Jim (Pam) Wooters, Jr. of Gagetown; Jerry (Amanda) Wooters of Gagetown; Jamie (Nathan) Sullivan of Burton; Dawn Meffer of Bad Axe; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; siblings: Jeanette (Bill) Miller of Cass City; Dorothy Lefler of Cass City; Pat (Karen) Boyd of Howell; Duane (June) Samons of Snover; Ralph (Jean) Samons of Florida; Calvin (Petra) Samons of Florida; Earl (Loretta) Samons of Decker; Tony (Carolina) Samons of Kentucky; many nieces and nephews.
