Charles Woodruff

Charles Blaine Woodruff, 65, and Nevah Fern Woodruff, 63, of Cass City, died Saturday, October 26, 2002 in an automobile accident in Tuscola County. Charles was born March 1, 1937 at home in Genesee County to Jasper Blaine and Mary Elizabeth (Murphy) Woodruff. Nevah was born December 5, 1938 in Flint to Edwin Wilber and Ruby Viola (Van Arsdale) Nash. They were married March 10, 1956 in Genesee County.

Charles worked as an autobody repairman at various collision shops near Flint and later he owned and operated Woodruff’s Collision. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and joking and teasing with his grandchildren. Nevah worked as a tax preparer for many years from her home. She was a beloved member of Mizpah Missionary Church serving as a board member and Deaconess. Nevah enjoyed writing poetry and singing with her grandchildren on her lap, but most of all she had an inexpressible love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Over the years she enjoyed gardening, canning, including making jams, jellies and pickles. Nevah put everyone else first. She was grandma to many. She always had a beautiful smile and a hug for everyone.

Charles and Nevah are survived by their 10 children: Lena (John) Waltz of Deford, Charles (Kelly) Woodruff II of Cass City, Gerald (Cindy) Woodruff of Cass City, Stanley (Julie) Woodruff of Gagetown, Robert Woodruff of Cass City, Ronald (Mary) Woodruff of Jackson, Shelly (Robert) Hamilton of Warren, Gregory Woodruff of Cass City, Kathleen (Rocky) Bouverette of Deford, Carrie Woodruff of Cass City; 26 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving Charles are his brother, Delbert E. (Diana) Woodruff of Caro; sisters: Linda L. Hitsman of Cass City, Delphenia (Douglas) Bean of Cass City. Also surviving Nevah are her sisters: Phyllis Green of Amarillo, TX, Carol Greene of Hale, Arlene Hempton of Caro, Elaine (Charles) Cron of Kalkaska, Rebecca (Chet) Adams of Flint, Shirley Nash of Caro, Diana (Delbert) Woodruff of Caro; brothers: David Greene of Clio, Lewis Greene of Clio, Carl “Joe” Tucker of Caro, Nolon Nash of Caro; both are survived by many nieces and nephews. His sisters: Rachel Haskel and Beulah M. Woodruff; brothers, Henry Woodruff and Carl F. Woodruff, precede Charles in death.

Funeral services held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor JT Mabe of Mizpah Missionary Church officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund
