ROBERT LEE WOOD,
90, of Cass City, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 in his home with his family by his side. He was born November 29, 1932 in Cass City to Claude and Cecil (Patterson) Wood. He married Barbara Cross on September 13, 1952 in Caro.
Robert graduated in 1950 from Cass City High School. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Robert worked as a farmer and for the Michigan Sugar Company. An active volunteer with the Thumb Octagon Barn, he could be found working in the sorghum shack. Robert’s hobbies include woodworking, making maple syrup, and gardening. He was a member of Cass City United Methodist Church. Robert served as past treasurer and worshipful master of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #226 F.& A.M. He will be remembered for being a giving, helpful, and talented person.
Robert is survived by his wife of seventy years, Barbara; children: Mike (Lynelle) Wood of San Jose, CA; Wayne (Kathy) Wood of Cass City; Nancy (Rick) Johnecheck of Boyne City; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; eight step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Rondo.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Demyanovich officiating. Military honors conducted by Cass City V.F.W. Post # 3644 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A masonic service for Robert will begin at 7 pm Thursday evening. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church or the Thumb Octagon Barn. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery in the spring.
