JOHN JAMES WOLAK,
87, of Kingston, died Friday evening, January 10, 2014 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro following a short illness. He was born April 13, 1926 in Kingston to Zygmunt and Katarzyna (Ziobron) Wolak. He married Victoria E. Kloc June 26, 1954 in St. Michaels Catholic Church, Wilmot.
John served in the U.S. Army in Germany during post World War II as part of the Berlin Occupation Force. After the military, he worked at the Dodge Assembly plant in Hamtramck. He later worked as a Plant Superintendent for Marlette Homes retiring after 28 years when the business closed. John was asked to set up the new SunHawk plant in Romeo which he did and was Plant Manager until they closed a few years later. He worked for the Human Development Commission in Caro until his second retirement. John was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a member of the Cass City/Gagetown Knights of Columbus Council #8892. John served as an usher and Parish Council President.
John loved being outdoors. He was an avid golfer and was known for his tasty barbeque. As a hobby, John planted trees in the Kingston area for over 50 years. He enjoyed working with wood and gathering fire wood. John was a kind soul. He loved people, was very friendly and enjoyed being helpful to friends and neighbors with any needed task. His faithful four legged companion, Oscar, died not long ago leaving a very big hole in John's heart.
John is survived by his wife, Victoria; children: David (Anna Jo) Wolak of Geneseo, IL, Susan Wolak of Scottsdale, AZ, Paul (Bea) Wolak of Indianapolis, IN, Evelyn (Donald) Prekop of DeWitt; grandchildren: Daniel, Katherine (Jimmy), Elizabeth, Kevin, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Michael, Thomas; sister, Genevieve Jamula of Wyandotte; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Patrick George Wolak 1976, brothers: Frank (Josephine) Wolak, Joseph (Lillian) Wolak, Anthony (Hattie) Wolak, Henry (Josephine) Wolak, Walter (Lea) Wolak; sisters: Sophie (John) Gagel, Mary Wolak, Virginia (Louis) Waryas; brother-in-law, Peter Jamula.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Megge and Sr. Riccardina Silvestri officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Military services under the direction of Kingston VFW Post#5317 and U.S. Army. Pallbearers for Mr. Wolak are his grandchildren: Daniel Wolak, Katherine Barnes, Elizabeth Wolak, Kevin Wolak, Kaitlyn Wolak, Christopher Wolak, Michael Prekop and Thomas Prekop.
