ELIZABETH "LEA" HELEN WOLAK,
86, of Kingston, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in her home with her family by her side. She was born January 14, 1925 in Stanley, OH to John and Sofie (Krisanda) Kapral. Lea grew up in Detroit and on a farm near Deford. She married Walter T. Wolak September 14, 1946 in Detroit. He died April 14, 1996.
Lea worked in an aircraft plant during World War II. After her marriage to Walter they bought a farm in Kingston. Lea worked alongside her husband on their dairy and cash crop farm. She was a long-time member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society. Lea enjoyed bowling and was a league bowler for over 35 years. Lea was a past Hospice Volunteer. She enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans for her children and grandchildren.
Lea is survived by her children: Elaine Shegitz of Charlotte, Raymond (Mary Lou) Wolak of Kingston, Alice (Jerry) Fust of St. Johns, Ron (Cheryl Lee) Wolak of Vicksburg; grandchildren: Tim Wolak, Brian (Heather) Wolak, Gregory Wolak, Ben (Dana) Shegitz, Joshua Shegitz; Charles Fust, Elizabeth Fust, Thomas Wolak, Lauren Wolak; great grandchildren: Marina and Leah Shegitz; sisters: Helen Garner, Margaret Wenta, Joan (George) Klemkowsky; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Vicki Wolak; sister-in-law, Genevieve Jamula; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by son-in-law, Steve Shegitz; eight sisters, one brother and their spouses, three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in St. Michael Catholic Church, Wilmot with Rev. Andrzej Boroch, Sr. Riccardina Silvestri and Deacon, Jerry Fust officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Wilmot. Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Marlette or Kingston Community Schoolsl Scholarship Fund.
