Marvin Winter

June 9, 1937 — May 20, 2009

Marvin ‘Marv’ Merl Winter, 71, of Cass City, MI died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in his home. He was born June 9, 1937 to Merle and Lucille (Rockefeller) Winter in Cass City, MI. He graduated from Cass City High School in 1955. Marvin married Janice O’Dell June 20, 1959 in Sutton Methodist Church, Caro. They have celebrated 49 years of marriage.

In 1969 Marv went into business for himself establishing Winter’s Truck Sales. Winter’s Truck Sales sold new and used truck and farm equipment. Marv was still operating the business until his death. In 1975 he established Colony House Catering Hall & Blue Room Bar. The Colony House hosted numerous wedding receptions, concerts, corporate events, and various trade shows. It was in operation until 1998. Marv was a member of Cass City Masonic Tyler Lodge #317, Caro Moose Lodge #1049, and Elf Khurafeh Shrine Center, Saginaw.

Marv was a NASCAR fan. He loved watching and attending race events. He also loved watching the Detroit sports teams: Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and Pistons. He was an avid card player. Marv had a great love for animals, in particular, his pet goose, Charlie and his pet lion, Sue Ellen that he raised for 14 years. But his real gift was meeting new people and quickly and easily making friends. He truly loved being surrounded by family and friends.
