Joseph J. Windy, 79, of Cass City, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at home with his family by his side. He was born April 27, 1928 in Merrill to Joseph George and Theresa (Drewek) Windy. He married Ruth Pearl Bliss April 21, 1956 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City. She died October 24, 2006.
Joe served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of the Cass City/Gagetown Knights of Columbus Council #8892 and a founding member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. Joe was a member of the Laborers Union working for over 25 years at DaVaney Plumbing and Heating in Flint retiring in 1990. Joe always had a beautiful smile and greeting for everyone. He enjoyed helping people, gardening, traveling up north, and hunting.
Joe is survived by his children: Joseph (Lynne) Windy of Snover, Mary (Richard) Doerr of Cass City, Ruth (Michael) Langlois of Gagetown, Paul (Tonette) Windy of Paavola, James Windy of Cass City; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Oliver of Saginaw; brother, Raymond (Myra) Windy of Reese; sister-in-law, Aloha Windy of Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Helen Christine; brother, Stephen Windy; sisters: Eleanor Guilds, Agnes Gruber.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen J. Fillion officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City.
