WILLIAM FREDERICK WINCHESTER,
87, of Gagetown died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. He was born May 12, 1924 at home in Elmwood Township to Carl L. and Jessie (Andrews) Winchester. He married Adelene Creason Engler April 16, 1955 in Owendale. She died February 7, 1991.
Bill worked for Automotive Industries in Owendale. He retired from Prestolite in 1988 where he worked as a Millwright. Bill was a lifelong farmer. He was a self taught machinist and enjoyed working in his shop at home. He was a helping hand of the neighborhood fixing projects the neighbors brought by. Bill collected tractors of all types but particularly John Deere tractors. He loved attending engine shows and garage sales. Bill was a man of great faith in the Lord. He was honest and true to his word. He was generous and would give you the shirt off his back. Bill loved and adored his granddaughters.
Bill is survived by his children: Bob Engler of Gagetown, Pamela (Mel) Smith of Bay City; grandchildren: Samantha Smith and Alexandra Smith; sister, June (Willis) Farnum of Pigeon, Jerry (Betty) Winchester of Gagetown; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sisters: Norma Fournier, Beulah Hobart, Althea Lorencz, Gwen Sommers, Jane Hudson, Margaret Winchester; brothers: John Winchester, C.L. Winchester, James Winchester, Carlton Winchester.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery.
