DOROTHY ELAINE WENTWORTH,
94, of Deford, died peacefully December 9, 2022 in her home. She was born April 28, 1928 in Novesta Township to James and Myrtle (Bruce) Sangster. She married Bruce Alton Wentworth on May 8, 1948 in Novesta Free Will Baptist Church. He died April 20, 1991.
Dorothy graduated from Cass City High School in 1946. Together, she and Bruce farmed alongside their neighbors and friends, Carl and Mary Geister. Dorothy drove tractor, bailed hay, and helped milk eighty cows.
She was a good cook and canned almost everything that grew in her beautiful garden. Dorothy sewed many outfits for daughter’s Barbie dolls. Her caregiving spirit extended to her aunts, whom she cared for and made certain they made it to their appointments. Dorothy enjoyed popcorn so much that she made it and ate it almost every night for an after-supper snack. She loved watching the old game shows, Molly B’s Polka Party on television, and listening to Daniel O’Donnell.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Roderick (Sheryl) Wentworth of Lapeer; James (Susan Pnacek) Wentworth of Coleman; Darlene (Jeff) Parsell of Cass City; Janice (Gary) Warju of White Lake; grandchildren:
RJ (Mary Crosby) Wentworth, Suzette (Gordon) Wright, Tara (Jeff) Mallory, Rick (Sara) Parrott, Lindi (Peter) Thayer, Carrie (Travis) Albertson, Kayla (Matt) Irrer, Adam Wentworth, Jaime (Nathan) Fritz, Jenny (Rusty) Hudson, Nick (Joanna) Warju, Morgan (Dave) Pippin, Christine (Cliff) Wineman, Tim (Nicole) Bunch; thirty-five great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren, with one due in March. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruce; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah (Richard) Parrott; great-grandson, Seth Thayer; brother and sister-in-law, William (Shirley) Sangster; brothers-in-law: Phillip Howell, Bernard Lossing.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Dale Bullock of Mizpah Missionary Church officiating. Interment in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Revive Ministries Common Grounds Café or a charity of donor’s choice.
