Nancy E. Weippert, 53, of Cass City, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 in Covenant Health Care-Cooper, Saginaw. She was born June 12, 1950 in Cass City to Ellit Ray and Freda Elizabeth (Miller) Auvil.
Nancy graduated from Central Michigan University with a master’s degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in science. She also attended courses at Saginaw Valley State University. She worked for Cass City Public Schools as a school teacher since fall of 1972 and was the Cass City Education Association treasurer. She was also a TCC Representative and President. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and their Board of Education. She was active in the Thumb Area Compassionate Friends as secretary and treasurer and also treasurer of the United Way. She acted as treasurer of the Cass City Boy Scouts Parental Committee. Nancy enjoyed golfing, boating, reading and walking.
Nancy is survived by her son, Jeremy Weippert of Cass City; siblings: Steven Ray (Jane) Auvil of Allentown, PA, Kathy (Al) Keaton of Tallahassee, FL, Janet (Donnell) Giles of Philadelphia, PA; 10 nieces and nephews; dear friend, Pat Fox. She is preceded in death by her son, Nathan.
A Rosary service will be held 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Kranz Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Rev. David Anthony of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society-Michigan Chapter, or Thumb Area Compassionate Friends.
