JACK DUANE WALLACE
Jack D. Wallace, 69, of Cass City, died Friday, May 8, 2009 in his home with his family by his side. He was born September 19, 1939 in Cass City to Donald Edmund and Beva B. (Nichols) Wallace. He married Marlene Helen Ulfig September 24, 1966 in Cass City.

Jack graduated from Cass City High School. He worked in the offices of many small businesses in Detroit, Jackson and Ann Arbor before returning to Cass City. Jack and Marlene operated an Adult Foster Care Home for over 15 years. He enjoyed playing pool, was the President of the Pool League and at one time owned Shark’s Club Pool Hall in Cass City. Jack was a member of the Cass City Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, especially deer and turkey. He was a former member of the Pony Trotting Club in Jackson where he used to race ponies. Jack loved working in his yard and in his garden. He enjoyed playing cards especially euchre, poker and black jack. He made beautiful woodworking projects. But most important to him was spending time with his grandchildren and having his family close.

Jack is survived by his wife, Marlene; children: Jeff Wallace of Cass City, Debra Hool of Cass City; grandchildren: Justin, Christopher, Korey, Halie, and Tyler; brothers: Robert (Bea) Wallace of Hemlock, Alfred (Charlie) Wallace of Cass City; sisters: Beverly (Jim) Mayfield of Decker, Marilyn Ziemba of Decker, Sharon (Arnold) Erla of Cass City, Carol Hartman of Cass City; brother and sister-in-law, Danny (Peggy) Ulfig of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley; brothers-in-law: Leonard Ziemba and Norman Ulfig.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor Joseph Atchinson officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers for Mr. Wallace are: Justin Hool, Christopher Hool, Corey Ulfig, Dennis Ziemba, Rick Hover, and Brent Wallace. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
