FRANCIS EDWARD VAN HORN
Francis E. VanHorn, 91, of Bradenton, FL formerly of Kingston, died Monday, February 26, 2007 in Hospice House, Bradenton, FL. He was born March 12, 1915 in Kingston Township to John Edward and Lillian (Silvernail) VanHorn. He married Letitia Tallman June 17, 1939 in Deford. She died October 11, 1991. He then married Laura M. Morrison October 24, 1992 in Bradenton, FL. She died October 7, 1998.
Francis retired from the Department of Mental Health Wajamega (Caro Regional Center) after 30 years of work as a Nurse Attendant. He also farmed for over 30 years. Francis was an active member of the Free Methodist Church, the Deford United Methodist Church and the Bayshore Nazarene Church in Bradenton, FL. He enjoyed music and photography. He was cared for by Laura’s daughter, Sandra Peterson, for the last few years.
Francis is survived by his step-daughters: Sandra Peterson of Bradenton, FL, Connie Borden of MA; step granddaughters: Kellie (Lance) Karpp, Holly (James) Goodin; step-great grandchildren: Kayla, Sydney, Lainey, Alex, Mattie, Grant; sisters: Naomi (Robert) Barber of Roscommon, Geraldine (Howard) Conely of Mayville; sister-in-law, Gladys VanHorn of Deford, Juanita VanHorn of Bradenton; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his infant son, Francis Jr.; sisters: Mildred Trisch, Emma Jane Schiele, Arlene Peterson; brothers: Theodore VanHorn, Alvin VanHorn; brother-in-law, Harold Peterson.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2007 in Kranz Funeral Home Kingston with Rev. Paul Donelson of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be made to World Gospel Missions of Marion, IN. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery, Kingston.
