IRMA C. LAMERS VAN TOLL,
87, of Cass City, died Monday, July 25, 2011 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. She was born March 6, 1924 in Little Chute, WI the youngest of eight children of Theodore H. and Antoinette "Nettie" (Giesbers) Lamers. She married Peter William Van Toll October 24, 1969 in St. John's Catholic Church, Little Chute, WI. He died November 21, 1999.
Irma graduated from St. John's High School in Little Chute, WI. She served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a First Lieutenant working as a nurse. Irma graduated as a Registered Nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Oshkosh, WI. She worked as a nurse at Kaukauna Community Hospital, Kaukauna Clinic, Cottage Hospital in Detroit and at Tendercare Nursing Facility in Cass City. Irma enjoyed many kinds of needlework including knitting, crocheting and quilting. She enjoyed oil painting and she loved to read. Irma was a good cook and baker making homemade donuts for others to enjoy. She enjoyed teaching her great niece how to cook and bake. Irma was very witty right up to a few days before her death, joking with her caregivers.
Irma is survived by her stepchildren: Helen Singer, Regina (Charles) McElhone, 8 step grandchildren; 25 step great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Marie Lamers-Balgie, Arline Lamers; nieces: Shari, Sandee, Lynn, Carla, Donna, Kay, Patricia, Maureen, Jenny; nephews: Lyle, Cliff, Paul, Greg, Les, Glen, Joseph, Philip, Andrew; godchildren: Maureen, Glen, Donna, Randal; 48 great nieces and nephews; special friend, Diane. She is preceded in death by sisters: Theresa Lamers, Jeanette Lamers; brothers: Clarence Lamers, Jerome Lamers, Robert Lamers, William Lamers, Gordon Lamers; niece, Margaret; nephew, Michael; stepsons: Joseph Van Toll, Daniel Van Toll; and two step granddaughters.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Bala officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Freiburg. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund to be divided for Masses and Home and Hospice Advantage.
