EVELYN D. TUCKEY
Evelyn D. Tuckey, 94, of Cass City, died Monday, April 18, 2005 in Tendercare Nursing Facility after a long illness. She was born June 13, 1910 in Lake Odessa to Charles and Jeanette Graham (Ferguson) Doerr. She married Charles Luke Tuckey November 9, 1927 in Cass City. He died March 28, 1996.
Evelyn was a member of the Cass City United Methodist Church, the former Salem United Methodist Church and the Cass City United Methodist Women. She contributed six sons to the military and corresponded with them regularly, keeping every letter they wrote home. On her 50th wedding anniversary Evelyn and her husband were presented honorary graduation certificates from Cass City Community Schools. Evelyn and Luke wintered 19 years in Florida, where they had many friends. Evelyn collected cups and saucers. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and truly enjoyed her family. For their 50th wedding anniversary they took a trip to Hawaii with most of the family members.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Dorothy (Carl) Mantey of Port Austin, Charles (Iris) Tuckey of Sand Pointe, Eunice (Donald) Kaufman of Edwardsburg, Dr. Donald (Kathlyn) Tuckey of Frankenmuth, William (Sylvia) Tuckey of Frankenmuth, Robert (Barbara) Tuckey of Cass City, Roy (Kathleen) Tuckey of Cass City; 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; daughter-in-law, Dolores Tuckey of Cass City; sisters-in-law: Ruth Doerr of Saginaw, Mary Doerr of Mayville, Olga Doerr of Rhodes, Lanettia Tuckey of Pontiac; brother-in-law, Rev. John (Bernice) Tuckey of Flint; many nieces and nephews; dear friend and cousin, Florence Schott of Saginaw. She is preceded in death by son, J.D. Tuckey; brothers: William Doerr, Albert Doerr, Henry Doerr, Dorus Doerr; sisters: Marjorie Jones, Dorothy Shue, and Mary Buchannan.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, in Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. George Ward officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City.
