DEAN ARTHUR TONER,
87, of Cass City, died peacefully Saturday, June 4, 2022 in United Hospice of Marlette Residence Center, Marlette. He was born January 11, 1935 in Detroit to William John and Gwendoline Edith (McCleary) Toner. He married Johanna C. Schmuckle. She died April 27, 2017.

Dean graduated from Cass City High School in 1952. He was employed by the Village of Cass City as a laborer and served as a fireman with the Elkland Township Fire Department for many years. Dean took a job in the Transportation Department for the Caro Regional Center, a job he retired from over 20 years later. He retired to Alabama and during his time there he hauled mobile home trailers for people. Later in life, Dean loved traveling and camping especially in northern Michigan, to the Mackinaw and Sault Ste. Marie areas. A talented handyman, he was good with his hands when it came to fixing things.

Dean is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Tom) Dorland of Cass City; son, Jerry (Melissa) Toner of Midland; grandchildren: Adam (Stacey) Dorland, Aaron (friend, Autumn Snyder ) Dorland, Krystee (Curtis) Draper, Kevven Dorland, Zachary (Christina) Toner, Megan (Josh) Peterson and ten great-grandchildren; sisters: Willa Vargas and Ivernia Schwartz; stepdaughters: Mary Rife, Sue Olson, Cathy (Richard) Green, Chris (Larry) Langenburg. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Anna Barnard, Gwen Bell, Norman Toner, William Toner, Jr., George Toner, Gladys Toner and Daniel Toner.

Respecting Dean’s wish, no services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to a charity of donor’s choice. Private interment will be in Indianfields Township Cemetery, Caro. Friends may share memories, stories, and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
