DOROTHY J TOMCZAK,
92, of Cass City, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 in Henry Ford Hospital Bloomfield Hills. She was born September 18, 1918 in Detroit to Anthony and Lottie (Lendzion) Kubicki. She married John J. Tomczak May 6, 1950 in St. Bartholomew’s Church in Detroit. He died June 18, 1996.
Dorothy worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 5 years, Travelers Insurance for 15 years and retired from Allstate Insurance in 1978 after 21 years. During World War II she was a USO volunteer in Detroit. She was a member of Women’s City Club in Detroit. Dorothy was a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church. She was a past president of St. Pancratius Catholic Church Women’s Council. She was a member of Hills and Dales Hospital Auxiliary and Hospital Volunteer Service. Dorothy was a volunteer in “Picture Lady Program” at Cass City Schools, a volunteer for American Cancer Society and a volunteer for Michigan Artrain. She enjoyed sewing, tennis, ice skating, swimming, bowling and gardening.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Harry (Dorothy) Kubicki of Sterling Heights; nephews: Gary (Kathy) Kubicki, Gregory Kubicki, Walter Frankowski; nieces: Christine Dudzinski, Karen Faulkner; great nieces and nephews including: Carrie (David) Meengs, Kory Kubicki, Cortney Kubicki; a great, great nephew, and many friends.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Bala and Sr. Maria Dina Puddu MC officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery.
