Edwina “Eddie” M. Thompson, 92, of Cass City, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Saginaw. She was born September 11, 1910 in Wisner to Ralph and Edith (Nelsen) Pomeroy. She married Charles H. Thompson March 11, 1933 in Bad Axe. He died May 8, 1977.
Eddie owned and operated Greenleaf Store from 1947 to 1959. She owned a gravel pit in Bad Axe and worked at Gambles and Anrod. She played the piano at the Cass City Missionary Church where she was a charter member. Eddie helped raise two of her grandchildren after their mother died. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading.
Eddie is survived by her children: Dolores (Lloyd) Harris of Florida, Virgil (Lillian) Thompson of Iron River, Charles Jr. Thompson of Cass City; grandchildren: David, Terry, Daryl, Craig, LuAnn, Melanie, Pam, Roger, Brian, William, and Roconda; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; siblings: Lucille Murphy of Metamora, Chloris (Fritz) Pomeroy of Cass City and Labbleus “Lebb” (Hazel) Pomeroy of Florida; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Kenneth; daughter-in-law, Roslyn; brother-in-law, Ray Murphy and sister-in-law, Marion Pomeroy.
Funeral services held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Pastor David Edwards of the Cass City Missionary Church officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.
