Donald A. Thomas, 88, of Cass City, formerly of Clarkston, died Friday, January 9, 2004 in Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe. He was born June 20, 1915 in Detroit to Charles Dart and Mable M. (Ferguson) Thomas. He married June Arlene Grimm February 8, 1941 in Farmington.

Donald graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit and attended Albion College. He also attended Wayne State University studying advertising. Don joined the Naval Reserves and served during World War II as a lieutenant. He retired as a supervisor from General Motors after 28 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Clarkston and the Cass City United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Altar Guild. He enjoyed gardening vegetables and was a member of the Cass City Garden Club. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting pheasant.

Donald is survived by his wife, June; children: Jan (Paul) Clabuesch of Sand Point, Donald A. (Jane) Thomas Jr. of Troy; grandchildren: Allison and Michael Pirrett, Lisa, Christopher and Ashley Clabuesch, Molly, Scott and Jonathan Thomas; brother-in-law, Robert A. (Evelyn) Grimm Jr. of Pinckney.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Cass City United Methodist Church, Cass City, with Rev. George Ward officiating. Interment is in Acacia Park Cemetery, Beverly Hills, MI. Memorials may be made to the Cass City United Methodist Church Memorial Garden.
