MARGARET ALBERTA THANE,
90, of Cass City, died Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Covenant Medical Center Select Specialty, Saginaw. She was born May 24, 1925 in Kinde to Thomas and Olive (Souva) Furness. Margaret married Willard Eugene Thane, October 27, 1956 in Caro. He died November 18, 2007.
Margaret moved from Wilmot to East Tawas and lived there for 26 years before returning to Caro. She was a former member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, where she helped with meals and worked in its women's groups. Margaret worked for Queensway Fashions as a retail clerk and also at the Mill End Store in East Tawas. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and was an avid Bingo player. Margaret was always very involved with her family, especially with her children and grandchildren and their daily lives.
Margaret is survived by her children: Donald Swalwell of Commerce Twp., Daniel Swalwell of Davison, Gary Swalwell of Cass City, Willard (Marie) Thane of Cass City, Ivan (Sharon) Thane of Midland; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Treda Furness of OK, Shirley Furness of Walled Lake; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard; son, Ronald Swalwell; step sons: Bruce Thane, David Thane; brothers: Cecil Furness, Bernard Furness, Willard Furness, Edwin Furness, Alfred Furness, Thomas Furness; sisters: Elizabeth Pierce, Luetta Pierce.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2015 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Kelm officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.
