RICHARD CARL TAVERNIER,
83, of Kingston, died following a long illness Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in Hills & Dales General Hospital, Cass City. He was born February 21, 1931 in Bowling Green, OH to John and Jean (Luce) Tavernier. He married Shirley May Ranes November 14, 1969 in Melvindale. They enjoyed a wonderful 43 years of wedded bliss together before her death August 11, 2012.
Richard was a gifted auto mechanic and worked over 20 years for Klann Auto Electric in Detroit. After his tenure with Klann, he used his talent as a self-employed independent mechanic. He and Shirley also were independent dealers of Watkins, Amway, Avon and Tupperware just to name a few. They loved going to flea markets and garage sales. Richard was a certified Master Gardener through MSU and loved working in his yard and gardens.
Richard is survived by his children: David (Heather) Tavernier of Gaylord, Robert Tavernier of North Carolina, Ted Tavernier of Northville, Pama Tavernier of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brother, Ed Tavernier of Maumee, OH and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Johns; brother, John Tavernier.
Funeral service held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant, officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery.
