June L. Szappon, 73, of Cass City, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1930 in Freeland to Floyd and Lora (Lewis) Stevens. She married C. Wayne Spencer December 13, 1947 in Cass City. He died January 16, 1992.
June worked at General Cable and Caro Products. She enjoyed shopping, doing crosswords, watching birds, and spending time with her grandchildren.
June is survived by her daughters: Judy (Roger) Peters of Allegan, Laura Spencer of Cass City, son, Clinton (Diana) Spencer of Decker; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Spencer of Cass City; grandchildren: Greg (Jodi) Peters of Allegan, Kirk (Shelly) Peters of Allegan; Paula (Rick) Bolton of Cass City, Sheila (Ed) Yoe of Cass City, Shannon (Jimmy) Hollinshead of Cass City, Cheyann (Mike) Parks of Cass City; Casey (Michael) Jackson of Cass City, great grandchildren: Caleb Peters, Ashley and April Langley, Rachel and Kimberly Yoe, Jacob Spencer, and Diana Jackson; sister, Mary Lou Spencer of Deford, brother, Dale (Joyce) Stevens of Cass City, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Raymond Spencer, sisters: Shirley Periso and Evelyn Spencer.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Chuck Emmert of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.
