Walter W. Svoboda, 81, of Caro, died Saturday, October 27, 2007 in Covenant Medical Center, Harrison Campus, Saginaw. He was born September 17, 1926 in Temple, TX to Joe and Bessie (Svoboda) Satra. He married Dona Fay Sadler May 17, 1952 in Brown City.
Walt served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II in Germany. He worked for Marlette Homes for 25 years, and then worked in Middlebury, Indiana before returning to work for Active Homes from 1986 until his retirement in 1996. Walt enjoyed working on the computer, making wood crafts and playing practical jokes on his family and friends. He was a member of Kingston VFW Post #5317.
Walt is survived by his wife, Dona; children: Sheila F. Ramsey of Caro, Dennis (Durene) Svoboda of Finley, OH, Melanie M. (Seth) Geister of Kingston; grandchildren: Shawn Ramsey, Trevor Baer, Melissa Baer, Aaron Svoboda, Drew Svoboda, Collin Svoboda, Kelsie Geister, Quin Geister, Kendal Geister; great grandchildren: Rianna McConnell, Kyle Franzel; brother, James Satra of Brown City; sister, Bessie Turner of Clifford; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Frank Satra.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2007 in Kranz Funeral Home Kingston with Rev. Rick Brown, Kingston United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Interment will take place in the spring in Novesta Township Cemetery.
