RAY LEWIS SURBROOK

Ray L. Surbrook, 74, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in Cass City. He was born December 31, 1934, in Port Huron to Rev. Lewis and Edith (Kitchen) Surbrook.

Ray was a truck driver for Thumb Welding retiring after over 30 years. He enjoyed coyote, rabbit, and deer hunting and fishing. Ray attended Cass City Missionary Church. He and Phyllis McIntosh spent over 28 years together. Ray was a very generous man. He truly loved and enjoyed his family.

Ray is survived by his daughters: Brenda (Terry) Betzold of Cass City, Suzanne (Steven) Perry of Inverness, FL, Leisha (Larry) O’Neal of Inverness, FL; grandchildren: Melissa (Thomas) Peet, Holly Perry, Stephanie Perry, Amanda O’Neil, Larry O’Neal, Jr.; sisters: Evelyn (Wayne) Whittaker of Cass City, Sharyn (Ronald) Perry of Overland Park, KS, Eleanor (Earl) Dietzel of Caro; brother, Rev. Mark (Linda) Surbrook of Miltonvale, KS; many nieces and nephews. Ray was a special father of John (Pat) McIntosh and Papa to: Laurie (Mike), Matt, Cody Torka, Angela (Greg), Andrea (Tommy), and Nicole Thane, Karissa (Bryan), and Ethan Schrader, Katie (R.J.) Klaus, Jeff (Andrea) McIntosh, Ryan (Becky), Breanna, and Chloe McIntosh; children and grandchildren of Fonda who affectionately referred to him as Grandpa Ray. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Surbrook; sister, Lois Sugden; special friend, Phyllis McIntosh and her grandson, Paul McIntosh.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Mark Surbrook of Miltonvale Wesleyan Church, Miltonvale, KS officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Surbrook are Dean Whittaker, David Dietzel, Greg Thane, Terry Tuckey, and Fred Tuckey.
