ELDON J STOUTENBURG
Eldon J. Stoutenburg, 73, of Cass City, died Saturday, February 11, 2006 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. He was born February 13, 1932 in Snover to Jay and Hazel (McNaughton) Stoutenburg. He married Ellen Miller May 1, 1954 in Pigeon.
Eldon worked for 35 years for the Village of Cass City DPW. He was a member of Cass City United Methodist Church and the Laymen’s Club. Eldon was a member of Elkland Township Fire Department for 17 years. He coached many softball and baseball teams, and was a pioneer of the Women’s Softball League. Eldon volunteered at Bay Shore Camp and was instrumental in many building projects. He always said he didn’t belong to any club; he just helped all of them, in particular, in any project related to the park or youth. One year he received the Tuscola County Friend of Youth Award. Eldon never missed any sporting event of his children’s or grandchildren’s while he was physically able to attend. He was very proud of Cass City.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Ellen; children: Ed (Susan) Stoutenburg of Cass City, Elaine Stoutenburg of Columbiaville, Earney (Wendi) Stoutenburg of Penryn, CA: grandchildren: Matthew, Nicholas, Jarod, Jeffrey, Eric, and Natalie; sister, Dorothy Kain of Florida, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Max Stoutenburg.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. George Ward officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bay Shore Camp, Cass City United Methodist Church Building or Parkinson Foundation.
