DAVID JOHN STORMZAND
David J. Stormzand, 89, of Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully August 7, 2017 in his home of natural causes. He was born September 16, 1927 to Harold and Naomi (Fritz) Stormzand. David grew up in Roseville and graduated from Cass Tech High School, Detroit. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1945 to 1947, he earned his bachelor degree in business from Wayne State University. He married Merita Sanford July 31,1948 in Erin Presbyterian Church of Roseville. David worked for the Evan Sherritt Company and retired after 40 years. He was a proud member of Kiwanis International for 20 years and an active member of the S.A.R. in Ocala. David and Merita permanently moved to Ocala, Florida in 1997. Together they enjoyed traveling the country and Europe, they found comfort and enjoyment with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Merita; sons: John (Donna) Stormzand of Auburn Hills, Mark Stormzand of Cheboygan; sister Janet Philips of Altamonte, FL; grandchildren: Anna, Nathan, David and Eva. David was a beloved uncle and mentor to many. He was preceded in death by his loving brother Dale Stormzand; daughter-in-law Gail Stormzand.
Graveside service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at his grave in Elkland Township Cemetery. Military honors under the direction of Cass City VFW Post #3644. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
