DOROTHY ANN STAHLBAUM
84, of Cass City, died peacefully Friday, July 1, 2022 in Hills and Dales General Hospital, Cass City. She was born May 4, 1938 in Filion to William and Ida (Wurdleman) Schmidt. She married Jack Willett Stahlbaum on April 2, 1956 in Indiana. He died April 25, 1992.
Dorothy graduated from Elkton High School in 1955. She owned The Clothes Closet with locations in Cass City, Bad Axe, and Caro. Dorothy and The Clothes Closet stores touched the lives and memories of countless girls and women throughout the tri-county area. Her personalized customer connections and fashion insights kept people coming back for nearly forty years, often selling clothes to multiple generations within one family. Dorothy was recognized and served as the Cass City Village President for a number of years. She was also an active member of the Cass City, Caro, and Bad Axe Chamber of Commerce. Dorothy was very proud of her home on Main Street, that she owned for over fifty years. She loved redecorating her home, one room at a time; but her favorite was decorating for Christmas.
Dorothy is survived by her children; Dawn Stahlbaum of Bay City, Mark Stahlbaum of Denver, CO; Jeffery (April) Stahlbaum of Johnston, IA; Todd (Tisha) Stahlbaum of Cass City; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; brother, Gary (Betty) Maxwell of Caro; sister, Glenwood Kipper of Morrice. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Lori Lynn Schuette; brother, Robert Schmidt; sister, Donna Adams.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Sam Leppert, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Interment in Elkland Township Cemetery.
