John Sonnenberg

November 22, 1967 — October 12, 2011

John Cullen Sonnenberg, 43, of Caro, Michigan, entered eternal rest October 12, 2011. He was born November 22, 1967 in Pontiac to Gary and Karen (Gould) Sonnenberg. He married Tamara L. Parrott, August 13, 1988 in Troy.

John was a loving husband, devoted and caring father, a “son of thunder”, a dedicated brother, a wonderful uncle, and a friend of everyone. He touched many lives. Above all, John was an active and wonderful Christian with God as the center of his life. He loved his Lord and Savior and strived to make sure his family was Christ-centered, as well. John was a very humble man, with great integrity, who never held himself above anyone else.

John was a very active person in all areas of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, specifically hunting and fishing with family and spent quality time with his children. He loved sports and participated in a range of activities, including soccer, water sports, and at one point owned and enjoyed sailing his Hobie Cat sailboat.

John’s presence in peoples’ lives had a calming effect in times of turmoil. He was a gentle spirit, soft-spoken, but a pillar of strength to those around him. He was a role model to all and set the bar high for what a man’s character should be. He leaves behind a legacy that will be passed down to future generations. He was loved by all who met him, and will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.

John graduated from Royal Oak Kimball High School in 1985, and Lawrence Technological University in 1990, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. John was employed by Organic Bean and Grain in Caro, Michigan. Previous employment includes College Plus of Spring Branch, Texas, and Autoliv in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Tamara; children: Jeremy Cullen Sonnenberg, Micaela Rae Sonnenberg, Raelyn Grace Sonnenberg all at home; parents, Gary and Karen Sonnenberg of Brown City; sisters: Heidi (Les) Heffner of Las Vegas, NV, Tracy (Jonathan) Holbrook of Brown City; brother, Jim (Charlene) Sonnenberg of Sterling Heights; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Wanda Parrott of Mio; brother-in-law, Ronnie (Mindy) Parrott of Grand Blanc; grandmother, Louella Parrott of Caro; nieces and nephews: Leslie Heffner, Hannah Holbrook, Braye Sonnenberg, Nathan Holbrook, Brenna Sonnenberg, Briana Parrott, Lydia Holbrook, Bradyn Parrott; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
