PATRICIA ANN SMITH,
91, of Cass City died following a short illness Friday, October 11, 2019 in Angela Hospice, Livonia. She was born August 1, 1928 in Detroit, the sixth of eight children born to Phillip and Angela (Bauer) Schmidt. She married Wilbur “Bud” Edwin Smith October 18, 1947. He died May 22, 2015.
Pat raised her eight children prior to receiving her BFA from the University of Michigan, December 1980 at the age 52. She was a talented artist of many forms including: weaving, painting, beading, sewing and quilting to name a few. Her favorite trip was to St. Petersburg, Russia in January of 2000. Pat was an active member of the American Association of University Women.
Pat is survived by her children: William Smith (Marlena Tyre) of Cincinnati, OH; Gregory (Sheila) Smith of San Antonio, FL; Patrice (Mike Mayotte) Smith of Livonia; Nicholas (Stormy) Smith of Wilkes Barre, PA; Peter (Martha Weintraub) Smith of Ann Arbor; Celia (Chuck) McCulloch of Bloomfield Hills; Christopher (Martha Witte) Smith of Philadelphia, PA; Robert (Jennifer) Smith of Newport; grandchildren: Ethan (Inca) Smith, Alexi (Erica Goff) Koltowicz, Nikolai (Kristi) Koltowicz, Joshua (Katie Snyder) Koltowicz, Emmet (Emily) Smith, Elliot (Becky) Smith, Adam (Hsin-Yi Lee) Smith, Hannah Smith, Rachel Smith, Trevor (Marina) McCulloch, Daryl McCulloch, Katelin Smith, William Smith; great grandchildren: Madelyn, Katherine, Isabella, Greyson, Henry, Eli, Sam, Olivia, Emily, Elizabeth, Eleanor; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with her oldest grandson, Alexi Koltowicz officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to AAUW Scholarship Fund for Women.
