LARRY DONALD SMITH,
79, of Caro, died Sunday, November 13, 2022 in his home. He was born September 19, 1943 in Utica to Donald Eugene and Eva Ruth (Gould) Smith. He married Donna Berry on October 12, 1963 in Kingston Pilgrim Holiness Church.
Larry grew up in Clifford and graduated from Kingston High School in 1961. He served in the United States Navy for four years and four months. Larry retired from General Motors in 1998, where he was employed as a supervisor for thirty-four years. His favorite past times were deer hunting and fishing in the Great Lakes. He was known as a great story teller. Larry was a very competitive player of his favorite board game, Aggravation. He was an avid Kingston Community School sports supporter and the biggest fan of watching his grandchildren play. Larry always arrived early to get “his” parking spot and favorite seat in the bleachers. Together, he and Donna were awarded with a plaque for their longtime dedication to Kingston Athletics. Larry loved his family unconditionally.
Larry is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Donna; children: Susan Jones of Kingston; Vicki (Robert) Brown of Snover; Larry (Audrey) Smith of Kingston; Lori (Larry) McNeil of Caro; Shawn (Ron Nelson) Smith of Kingston; grandchildren: Kristen, Nathan, Ashley, Brandon, Megan, Jordan, Mitchell, Connor, Colin, Carley; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Blake, Savannah, Harper, Jhett, Jaxie, Hadley, Cohen; sisters: Lorna Krueger of Snover, Diane King of Bay City; brother, Terry Smith of Genesee; sister-in-law, Delores Smith of Shoreline, WA; fur babies: Marley, Lucy; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, James Howard; brother, Leonard Smith; father and mother-in-law, Howard and Clara Berry; brothers-in-law: Evans Krueger, Carl King; sister-in-law, Donna Smith; special uncle and aunt, Stanley and Gertrude Gould;
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 in Kingston Wesleyan Church with Pastor Len Wyatt officiating. Interment in Kingston Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #7 of Caro and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Kingston Wesleyan Church, Kingston Athletic Department or First State Hospice.
