JUDY ANN (THORNTON) SMITH
73, of Kingston, died following a battle with cancer Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center, Mayville. She was born November 16, 1945 in Pontiac the first of six children born to Russell Alger and Marie Antoinette (Brown) Thornton, Jr. She married Robert Smith March 23, 1965 in Pontiac.
Judy graduated from Caro Adult Education in 1995. She was a loving wife and mother of four biological children, many foster children and foreign exchange students from around the world. Judy had a gracious heart and took in many family and friends over the years. She loved spending time with family and friends. Judy was known for humorous jokes and funny sayings. She was a volunteer for the Kingston Rescue, a member of the Kingston VFW Post 5317 and Caro American Legion Post 7. Judy enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was fond of reading romance novels and cookbooks.
Judy is survived by her husband, Robert; children: Rob (Becky) Smith of Cheboygan; Brandy (Jay) Symons of Saginaw; Tara (Eric) Olar of Caro; Jonnie (Richard) Brown of Cass City; grandchildren: Sarra, Jason, Mikayla, Stephanie, Haylee, Madison, Olivia; great-granddaughter, Kinzleigh; siblings: Patrick Thornton of Cass City; Deborah (Al) Dandron of Silverwood; brother-in-law, Edward Keding of Waterford; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Linda Thornton, Bonnie Keding; brother, John Russell Thornton, Jr.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2019 in Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church, Caro with Pastor Randy Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kranz Funeral Home for the benefit of the family. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
