Cathy Smith

Cathy A. Smith, 67, of Cass City, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 in Medilodge, Cass City after a long illness. She was born March 5, 1948 in Cass City to Robert and Betty (Cooklin) Ryland. She married Larry S. Smith March 31, 1968 in Cass City. He died November 14, 2013.

Cathy owned and operated Hairbenders for over 45 years. She loved to race her Camaro at Ubly Dragway. Cathy loved her work. She enjoyed spending time with her cats, especially Bubby. Cathy adored her granddaughter, Kelsey.

Cathy is survived by her daughter, Michele (Nick) Pohlod of Cass City; granddaughter, Kelsey (finance, Jacob Verbeek) of Cass City: step-mother, Waunita O'Day of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Roberta Ryland of Cape Coral, FL; brothers: Gregory (Jackie) Eshelman of MO, Bruce (Ava) Eshelman of Douglas, AZ; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Craig Ryland; sister, Mary Busby.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Roberta Ryland officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Smith: Nick Pohlod, Jacob Verbeek, Rick Bergeron, Ken Pasanki, Damian Pohlod, Adrian Pohlod. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
