BRYAN MITCHELL SMITH,
26, of Cass City died peacefully with his loving family by his side Sunday, August 26, 2012, in his home. He was born September 24, 1985 in Bad Axe to Mitchell and Elizabeth (Spicer) Smith. He married the love of his life, Janell Papovich June 6, 2009 at the Bavarian Lodge in Frankenmuth.
Bryan graduated from Bad Axe High School in 2003. He attended one year at Saginaw Valley State University. Bryan worked several years for Gemini Plastics in Ubly. He later worked for Long Shot Lanes in Bad Axe and currently for Wendy's Restaurant in Bad Axe. Bryan enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends. RPG Video Games provided a great deal of entertainment for Bryan also. Music was an important part of his life, listening to everything from Oldies to Heavy Metal and all kinds of Rock in between. He enjoyed reading, particularly Fantasy novels. Bryan enjoyed watching Anime shows and Reality Television including shows like American Pickers and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and he hoped to one day meet Gordon Ramsay. He enjoyed going to concerts when he felt better and was a true Detroit Lions football fan. He was able to attend a Detroit Lions game in the last year with family and friends. Bryan was an avid movie watcher. He would often write a "Thumb's Up" or "Thumb's Down" review on his Facebook page. Bryan's greatest joy came from spending time with his wife and daughters whom he dearly loved and cherished. Bryan was most grateful to his loving wife, Janell; his mother, Elizabeth; his mother-in-law, Sandy; and his brother-in-law, Jake for the tender care they gave him in the last weeks of his life.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Janell; daughters: Elena Erla, Cecelia Papovich, Ava Henderson; parents: Mitchell (Patty) Smith of Pigeon, Elizabeth Smith of Bad Axe, Larry Smith of Bad Axe; brothers: Michael Smith of Bad Axe, Dennis Smith of Bad Axe; sister, Carrie Smith of Bad Axe; nephew, Bentley; niece, Lydia; grandparents: Robert and Joann Spicer of Bad Axe, Maxine Fischer of Kinde and Lyman Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Sandra Papovich of Snover; brother-in-law, Jacob Papovich of Rochester Hills; step-brother, Michael Paul Smith of Pigeon. He also leaves behind his dear friend, his Jack Russell Terrier, Chester.
A Celebration of Life open house for Bryan will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Evergreen Township Hall, Shabbona. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
