Alice D. Skura, 93, of Deford, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in Hills & Dales General Hospital, Cass City. She was born January 6, 1918 in Bedrock, Colorado to Tudor and Veronica (Galocy) Martin. She married Mike Skura May 22, 1948 in Detroit.
Alice was very social and at the drop of a hat, was ready and willing to go anywhere. She thoroughly enjoyed entertaining and hosting parties for family and friends in her own home, but likewise, took pleasure in attending gatherings at someone else's house as well. In addition to her party planning, Alice found time for another passion in her life and that was to dance. Alice was very creative and used poetry writing as an expression of her feelings. Clothes shopping was a hobby for Alice, especially when it could be at a thrift store. Alice was a very generous person, always giving of herself. Her thoughtfulness was revealed to anyone that helped her by receiving one of her "special" gifts.
Alice is survived by her husband, Mike; son, Martin Skura of Deford; grandchildren: Hayden Skura of Bay City, Logan Skura of Bay City, Holly Skura of Bay City; sisters: Julia (Warren) McPherson of Klemoth Falls, OR, Sylvia (Duane) Pyles of Waterford; sister-in-law, Emilia Romain of Cass City; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Penfold; brother, Ted "Buddy" Martin.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery.
