STEVE ALEX SKRIPY,
63, of Deford died following a long illness Sunday, December 23, 2012, in United Hospice of Marlette Residence Center with his family by his side. He was born September 8, 1949 in Cass City to Stephen Peter and Elizabeth Mary (Luana) Skripy. He married Tollice Marie Ballard August 17, 1985 in Flint.
Steve became a journeyman millwright after completing trade school. He began working for General Motors at the age of 18. He retired after 30 years. Steve loved farming. He farmed his crop farm for many years until his health would no longer allow him to work with the earth. Steve loved music, country music and oldies. Steve and Tollice kept their camper at the campground in Caseville each summer and enjoyed their time there. Steve was a collector. He collected many things including toy tractors, knives, and beer steins, but more important was the acquiring of the things he collected. He loved to attend rummage sales, garage sales and auctions to see what he could find. Steve was a good person and a good friend. Most important to Steve was his family, especially his grandsons. He truly loved those boys and cherished watching and attending their sports activities and other functions.
Steve is survived by his wife, Tollice: daughter, Tina Middaugh of Caro; grandsons: Carter and Logan; sisters: Shirley Hayward of Clarkston, Mary (Andy) Kozan of Clinton Township, Joan (Al) Kinzie of Burton; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
