BASIL LEE SIMPSON,
82, of Kingston, died following a long illness Friday, November 9, 2018 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro. He was born April 15, 1936 at home in Kingston the only child born to Robert Lee and Florence Pearl (Reamer) Simpson. He married Patricia Ann Putnam June 6, 1958 in Kingston. She died December 9, 2017.
Basil graduated from Kingston High School. He worked for many years as a school bus driver for Kingston Community Schools and also for Peters Sunoco Gas Station in Kingston and then as a janitor for Active Homes in Marlette. He loved his job driving bus. Basil was a big supporter of the Kingston Community and served as a volunteer fireman. He coached Babe Ruth Baseball for a time. Basil was a longtime member of Kingston Wesleyan Church where he attended and sang in the choir. Basil loved old cars and attending car shows. He put many car models together and proudly displayed them throughout his home. Basil enjoyed watching sports on television especially Tiger Baseball.
Basil is survived by his children: Tammy (Morris) Hendrick of Caro, Brian Simpson of Burtchville, Keith Simpson of Kingston; grandchildren: Jason Hendrick, Ryan Simpson, Andrew Simpson, Brianna Simpson, and Stephanie Watson; great grandchildren: Aidan, Lilliana, Addison, Isaac, Sebastian, and Morgan; brother-in-law, William (Rose) Putnam of Cass City. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will take place later in Kingston Cemetery, Kingston. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
