 SHIRLEY MARIE HAAG

Shirley M. Haag, 76, of Cass City passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, June 27, 2024 in Casa Grande Medical Center, AZ. She was born January 18, 1948 in Cass City to Deloss and Anna (Petricevic) Neal. Shirley married Danny Lyle Haag on September 30, 1972 in the Kilmanagh Lutheran Church.

Shirley graduated from Cass City High School in 1966. Right out of high school, she was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for Fuelgas, where she retired after thirty-eight years. Shirley was a lifelong member of the Gagetown Church of the Nazarene where she joyfully served as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader for many years. Shirley’s life revolved around her family. You would find her wherever her grandkids, Macy, Molly, and Easton were. It didn’t matter what they were doing, she was there as their biggest fan. She had a talent for cooking and making any event special. She loved listening to southern gospel quartet music. Together, Danny and Shirley attended Lloyd Severance Thumb Gospel concerts every year and the National Quartet Convention in Pigeon Forge, TN. Shirley loved to travel with her family, Hawaii being her favorite destination. Danny and Shirley celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in Hawaii with Nathan, Mandy, and their children making the most beautiful memories. Shirley loved every holiday, making them so special, especially Christmas. She insisted on having annual Christmas pictures taken with Danny, Macy, Molly, and Easton. Shirley had an appreciation for classic and hot rod cars, and was proud of her red 1970 Chevelle SS. She and Danny would sometimes surprise the kids picking them up after school in the convertible, making a loud and memorable scene. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she was such a huge part of theirs.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory the love of her life, her husband Danny of Cass City; son, Nathan, daughter-in-law Mandy and beloved grandchildren: Macy, Molly, and Easton Haag all of Cass City; sister, Jeannette Lapeer of Cass City; sister-in-law, Janice Neal of Fairgrove. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Edward Neal, James (Joyce) Neal, Sr.; brother-in-law, Lynwood Lapeer.

Memorials may be made to Bluewater Thumb Youth for Christ, the Gagetown Church of the Nazarene or the Cass City Missionary Church.
