JAMES SHERMAN
James Sherman, 67, of Cass City, died Sunday, April 1, 2007 in Select Specialty Residence of Covenant Medical Center Harrison Campus, Saginaw, following a long illness. He was born April 26, 1939 in Miami, FL to Neil James and Janet Faye (Gainor) Sherman. He married Erika Ursula Thierer August 27, 1961 in Cass City.
Jim served in the U.S. Army after the Korean War. He worked for General Motors then, for a time, as a journeyman carpenter, but his life work was the family strawberry and vegetable farm and restaurant. In his later years, until his recent retirement, Jim worked for Plastech in Caro. Jim was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge #1049.
Jim is survived by his children: Tina (Tim) Senior of White Lake, Howard Sherman of Cass City, Katy (Greg) Irwin of Sandusky, Ruby (Brian) Rideout of South Bend, IN; grandchildren: Heather, Christa, Joshua, Jessica, Sarah; great grandchildren: Jordan, Paris, Alexa, Ava and Nathan. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2007 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant and Cass City VFW Post #3644 officiating. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or Cass City VFW Post #3644. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Military honors under the direction of Cass City VFW Post #3644.
