Betty M. Scofield, 85, of Caro, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Timberline Lodge following a long illness. She was born September 24, 1928 in Bad Axe to Daniel Ernest and Ina Mae (Townley) Reehl. She married William E. Scofield May 31, 1952 in Toledo, OH. He died July 5, 2001.
Betty was a woman of great faith. She was a former member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Oregon, OH and a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church in Cass City. Betty donated her time generously collecting food donations from area businesses for the local soup kitchen to feed the homeless and needy in Oregon, OH. Betty and William loved their cockapoo Patches taking him with them everywhere they went. She enjoyed stopping at area garage sales and playing dice with her friends at Timberline Lodge.
Betty is survived by her sister, Emma "Marie" Langley of Bad Axe; sisters-in-law: Hildegard Reehl of Waxahachie, TX; Josephine Reehl of Bad Axe; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her sisters: Laura Rapson, Dorothy Goff, Ann Ziegelmann, Beatrice Baker, Beverly Reehl; brothers: Elger Reehl , John "Jack" Reehl, Martin Reehl.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Bala and Sr. Maria Dina Puddu MC officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Colfax Township, Bad Axe.
