RUSSELL LEROY SCHNEEBERGER
87, of Cass City died Friday, March 17, 2023 in Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital, Saginaw. He was born June 19, 1935 in Ferndale to Steven and Clara (Seigfried) Schneeberger. He married Olga Holik Marshall on August 14, 1965 in the Church of the Nazarene, Cass City.
Russell graduated from Cass City High School. He served in the United States Army for two years and then in the reserves for eight years. He started a fruit market which led to his career of selling furniture, carpet, and appliances in his business, Schneeberger’s Furniture and Appliance Store, for sixty years. Russell loved his fruit trees and tending to his huge garden. He worked in the greenhouse, starting flowers by seed and selling them after they bloomed. His family always enjoyed trips to the cabin in Roscommon to go fishing, canoeing, and riding motorcycles. Russell and Olga traveled the world together, which included trips to Spain, Italy, Mexico, and Ireland to name a few. He followed sports, especially the Detroit Tigers.
Russell is survived by his wife, Olga; children: Rusty Schneeberger of Deford, Cindy (Keith) Clark of Lansing, Gloria Rockafellow of Potterville; grandchildren: Jared Rockafellow, Adam Clark, Hannah Clark; great granddaughter, Atlas; sister, Virginia Harp of Flushing. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Donald Hendrian, Clarence “Bud” Schneeberger, son-in-law, Roger Rockafellow.
Funeral held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Dale Bullock of Mizpah Missionary Church officiating. Military honors conducted by Cass City V.F.W. Post #3644 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mizpah Missionary Church, Cass City.
