BERNIECE IRENE SANGSTER
Berniece I. Sangster, 95, of Decker, died Monday, September 20, 2004 in Courtney Manor, Bad Axe. She was born November 30, 1908 at home in Elmer to Harry and Lucy (Harrison) Wallace. She married Samuel G. Sangster in 1942 in South Branch, MI. Following their marriage they made their home in Evergreen Township.
Berniece operated and owned Wallace’s Store, at the corner of M53 and Deckerville Road for over 40 years. She was a member of the former Elmer United Methodist Church. Berniece enjoyed tatting and working on jigsaw puzzles. She loved to read, especially her Bible. Berniece enjoyed her memories of her days in Elmer and loved to share them with her family.
Berniece is survived by her son, Duane (Shirley) Sangster of Decker; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Sangster of Decker; grandchildren: Samuel (Shilon) Sangster of Snover, Danny (Kristine) Sangster of Decker, Jeffrey Sangster of Decker, Kimberly (Herbert) Burkett currently living in Ukraine, George (Kelly) Sangster Jr. of Caro, Robert (Leah) Sangster of Deford, Rebecca Sangster of Decker; great grandchildren: Wyatt Sangster, Natae Sangster, Timothy Sangster, Abrien Swires, Alyssa Sangster, Cody Sangster, Joshua Burkett, Andrew Burkett, Ashley Burkett, Jacob Burkett, Kelsey Smith; sister-in-law, Olive Bartels who is 99 years old; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by son, George Sangster; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Sangster; brother, Raymond Wallace.
Funeral services to be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2004 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Rev. George Harmon officiating. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. Interment will take place in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Sangster will be her grandsons: Sam Sangster, Dan Sangster, Jeff Sangster, Tim Sangster, George Sangster and Rob Sangster.
