SHIRLEY LOUISE RUSSELL
Shirley L. Russell, 82, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Friday, September 19, 2008 in her home. She was born August 22, 1926 in Oxford to Erwin Davis and Ada Blanche (Mathieson) Roost. She married Keith J. Russell June 18, 1949 in Oxford. He died July 31, 1976.
Shirley worked for Gambles Hardware Store in Cass City until they closed and then for Big Wheel in Caro until her retirement. Shirley was a 4H leader teaching cooking and sewing. She enjoyed many crafts including knitting, crocheting, and especially woodworking. Shirley also enjoyed camping and was a member of the Pioneer Camping Club.
Shirley is survived by her children: George (Robin) Russell of Cass City, Tom (Diane) Russell of Cass City, Carl (Darlene) Russell of Cass City, Carol Ann (Larry) Healy of Caro, Don (Roseann) Russell of Cass City, Ron Russell of Cass City; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters: Barbara Kessler of Oxford, Doris (Ronald) Fritch of Oxford, Joyce (Joe) Rosczewski of Lake Orion; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lee Kirklin; brother-in-law, Kenneth Kessler.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008 in Kranz Funeral Home �- Cass City with Rev. David Blackburn of Cass City First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Pallbearers for Ms. Russell: Michael Russell, Keith Russell, Brad Russell, Kurt Russell, Jeremy Russell, Tony Middaugh.
